Permanent Eyeliner Tattoo in Houston

Permanent Eyeliner

Permanent eyeliner can help enhance the appearance of your eyes and simplify your daily makeup routine. It is a form of cosmetic tattooing that involves implanting pigment into the skin of the upper or lower eyelid to create the appearance of a traditional eyeliner. The results are long-lasting and can save you time and hassle in the morning by eliminating the need to apply eyeliner daily. Additionally, people who have difficulty applying eyeliner due to shaky hands or poor vision can benefit from permanent eyeliner. It can also be useful for people who have allergies to makeup or those who participate in activities that cause their makeup to smudge or run.

Allergies to tattoo ink or permanent makeup pigments are not common, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. If you have an allergy to colorants, such as those found in food or clothing, we recommend doing a patch test one month prior to your procedure. However, if you already have tattoos, have minor sensitivities to makeup, or have seasonal allergies, a patch test isn’t necessary. Rest easy knowing that we have your best interests in mind and will ensure you have a comfortable and safe experience. Please call our studio if you would like to schedule a patch test.

Not every individual needs an in-person consultation. However, we do require that you send photos to our email at contact@dermaluxespa.com when booking your appointment. If you are unsure which treatment to select, have any contraindications, or have had previous permanent makeup done elsewhere, a consultation is required.

Permanent makeup is a wonderful way to enhance your natural beauty, and it’s designed to last for a good while. Typically, it can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years, and often even longer, depending on factors such as your skin type, aftercare routine, and lifestyle habits. If you have oily skin or lead an active lifestyle, it may be necessary to schedule touch-up appointments more often to maintain the longevity of your permanent makeup. We recommend waiting at least one year, and applying makeup may be necessary. If you book more than three appointments within the first year, including the initial appointment and touch-up, we will decline the appointment. This is done to preserve the integrity of the skin.

The duration varies depending on the area being treated and the complexity of the design. Typically, a session can last anywhere from 1 to 3.5 hours.

Healing varies based on the individual and the area treated. Following the aftercare instructions provided to you on the day of your appointment is essential for optimal healing.

During the first 10 days of healing after getting permanent makeup, it’s important to avoid the following:

  • Touching the Area: Avoid touching the treated area with your hands to prevent infection.
  • Picking or Scratching: Do not pick, scratch, or rub the scabs or flakes to avoid pigment loss and scarring.
  • Water Exposure: Keep the area dry; avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and long showers.
  • Sweating: Minimize activities that cause heavy sweating, such as intense workouts, as sweat can interfere with healing.
  • Makeup: Avoid applying makeup on or near the treated area to prevent contamination and irritation.
  • Skincare Products: Refrain from using creams, lotions, exfoliants, or other skincare products on the treated area unless recommended by your artist.
  • Sun Exposure: Protect the area from direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds, as UV rays can cause fading and irritation.
  • Sleeping on the Face: Try not to sleep on your face to prevent rubbing and pressure on the treated area.
  • Alcohol and Caffeine: Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption, as they can thin the blood and delay the healing process.
  • Chemical Treatments: Avoid facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, and other cosmetic procedures that could affect the treated area.

Yes, touch-ups are often necessary for permanent makeup. The initial application may not achieve the desired color intensity, so a touch-up helps fine-tune the pigment. Some areas may fade more quickly than others, and a touch-up ensures even color distribution. Adjustments may also be needed to perfect the shape and symmetry. Additionally, touch-ups help maintain the appearance over time, as all permanent makeup gradually fades. We recommend a touch-up within 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure, with maintenance touch-ups every 1-2 years depending on the individual’s skin type and lifestyle.
